Broads of Burden illuminates the plight of the modern working woman. In addition to holding professional degrees and prestigious positions, she is expected to shoulder the emotional needs of co-workers, family, and friends as well as perform a disproportionate amount of "care" responsibilities in the workplace and at home. As she carries these additional burdens, she is expected to look good while doing it; sporting a smile on her face, dressed in stylish clothing, and emitting an overall sense of health and vitality. The inequitable standards of appearance placed upon her undermine her accomplishments and expertise.
