Pepper Spray is now the product of choice for self-defense. It’s legal in most states, inexpensive, easy to use, and can be easily concealed. Although the product we know today has only been on the market for a short time, it's origins can be traced back to the 1400’s.
For this project of choice, I chose to create collectible items focused on the history of pepper spray. I discovered that there are three main points in history that I would need to cover: the Aztecs, Japanese, and Modern Day. The Aztecs used a smoke bomb made of chili peppers to temporarily blind and distract their enemies. The Japanese filled eggs with chili powder, glass, etc. to throw in the faces of their enemies. And in modern day, we use the activating ingredient of chili peppers in a spray form that can be sprayed directly in to the eyes of a threat. Each package contains elements that were used in that particular time in history to create their weapons.
