Underprivileged girls all over the United States are facing a problem with the lack of menstrual supplies because welfare does not cover “luxury” items. Luxury items include, high end cars, yachts, alcohol, cigarettes and feminine supplies. This “glitch” in the system puts these already at-risk girls in an even more precarious situation because they are missing school, events, sports and life because they do not have the proper menstrual care.
Because we understand that changing the laws on welfare are far beyond our reach at this current time, we decided to start with the Lynchburg area. The goal is to provide free period supplies each month to these hundreds of girls. We developed a set of tools, information and resources that would allow other communities to “adopt” the DotCom project.
As the creative team behind this, we needed to: Brand DotCom as means of communication to talk about the often-taboo subject of periods. Connect the Lynchburg community to the problem so that they seek to make a change. Help dramatize the message and show the effects that this problem can have on the teenage girls. Given our small budget, could we create a brand and a product that was cost effective and well designed?
Included on this page you will find the brand identity, a website, social media accounts, filler photos, small campaigns, an awareness video, budget friendly period supply bags and information sheets.
